Insiders: Ed Alsemgeest
"When everything is right, I feel proud"
At ALWECO, if your name is Alsemgeest, you’re never the only one. Still, every Alsemgeest is unique. In this edition of ALWECO Insiders, we meet Ed Alsemgeest, project planner and motorcycle enthusiast. The first is his job, the second his hobby.
“I started in 1982 at Ammerlaan Kassenbouw in the screen department,” says Ed. “In 1987, I went solo and worked as a subcontractor for ALWECO. In January 2001, I joined full-time as a project leader.”
Growth
“There used to be far fewer hectares,” Ed continues. “In recent years, our industry has really grown a lot. More hectares from larger companies, all wanting more screen installations. It’s great to see.”
Pride
“I enjoy it when everything fits perfectly. As a project planner, I calculate everything needed for a project and make sure it’s ready on time in the warehouse for packing and shipping. If everything is right, down to the last bolt, then I feel proud.”
Motorcycle
Outside of ALWECO, Ed has another passion. “I have a Yamaha V-MAX,” he says proudly. “I take good care of it. I’ve been riding since I was 18, often with a friend. I keep it in the shed under the heater, dry and clean.”
Around the World
Whether it’s his work or his bike, Ed takes pride in what he does. “I love every project we work on. As a Westlander, you know how a greenhouse works. Knowing that we at ALWECO make top-quality screen installations worldwide makes me proud.”
