Insiders: Sander Edelenbos
“At ALWECO, you feel real teamwork”
Hands up if you haven’t met Sander Edelenbos yet! Well, in this interview, you’ll get to know him. Our Warehouse Manager has been with ALWECO for three years, but it feels like much longer. No surprise—Sander is a true veteran in the screen installation industry.
“I started in the screen business in 1992,” says Sander. “Back then, I just needed a job and thought I’d try screen installations for a while. But that ‘while’ has now turned into about 32 years.” When he was looking for a good workplace three years ago, Sander found ALWECO. “I had worked with John Zwaneveld for years, who’s been in the ALWECO warehouse since 2014. He always had good things to say about it.”
“Yes, it’s really a great atmosphere here,” Sander continues. “I know people always say that, but here it’s really true. You really feel the teamwork. If someone goes out to grab some fish, they always ask if anyone else wants some, just as an example. Appreciation is shown, and the communication is direct—I like that.”
Sander also enjoys getting the orders ready for projects with precision. “I just finished packing a container for Canada,” he says proudly. “It’s nice to know you’ve prepared everything for a project and that the installation team can work on the other side of the world because you did your job right. That makes me proud.”
Sander is a hard worker who’s at ALWECO by six in the morning and doesn’t leave until five in the evening. Home for him is Maassluis. “I think Maassluis is a nice town,” says Sander. “I like photography; there are lots of beautiful places around Maassluis—the Waterway or the harbor. I have a four-year-old daughter, and we’re also close to places like Blijdorp Zoo, which is wonderful.”
Sander fits right in at ALWECO. “A good atmosphere and quick problem-solving—that’s what I like,” he says. “Making sure all shipments are complete is satisfying work. I don’t need to be behind a computer all day. I like being in my role between the office and the field. Yes, I think I’ll be happy at ALWECO for a long time.”
